The Winter Garden

It's January, and in Montana that means snow covers the ground and temperatures are nearly also below freezing at least for part of the day. It also means that we're in the middle of growing season on our indoor hydroponic garden. We always grow kale and basil since they are so useful in salads and other dishes, and this year is the second for bok choy (which seems to thrive as well). Our experiment this season is Japanese eggplant; after a long wait and a lot of pollination help from us (using a watercolor brush) we have three eggplants setting on.
